Our healthcare system in the United States is broken… And we know it.
The US spends twice as much on healthcare compared to any other developed country in the world, but excessive spending has yet to equate to greater outcomes or quality of life. Sadly, we lead other wealthy nations in rates of suicide while simultaneously bottoming out with the lowest life expectancy for our citizens.
We also have the highest rates of chronic disease, and our obesity rates are 2x higher than in other developed countries. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Oddly enough, 5% of the US population is responsible for over 50% of our current healthcare expenditures. Why? For multiple reasons, which inherently come down to excessively high costs and the use of unnecessary medical procedures.
Our medical system is also highly inefficient. We waste around $785 billion a year on unnecessary healthcare services and administration costs, which burden medical systems, providers, and third-party payers.
Your Health, Your Way
All is not lost, however.
The US healthcare system is the best in the world if you find yourself in a life or death emergency. We possess the highest amount of innovative technology and advanced medical procedures globally, leading the way in advanced surgeries and life-saving procedures. Our ability to keep someone alive is second to none, but this only accounts for 14% of our total healthcare expenditure, as chronic disease eats away at 86% of all the healthcare costs in the United States.
Our failure to adequately manage chronic illnesses such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cancers bankrupt our entire system. These conditions are far more challenging to manage because they don’t require emergency care until it’s too late.
The latest estimates state that less than 10% of all diseases can be attributed to hereditary or genetic control, meaning the other 90% of the diseases we face (most of which are chronic) are caused by lifestyle and individual environmental factors.
Our Choices Matter
Your decisions matter more than your genetics. As the saying goes, “genetics load the gun, the environment pulls the trigger.”
Your genes are the mere blueprint for your body to create new cells, proteins, and supporting structures for survival. We now know these genes are under environmental control, a new term coined “epigenetics” that governs how your decisions and surroundings turn on and off your genes. We are no longer at mercy to our genes; We are at mercy to our environments and choices made on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Believe it or not, this is a good thing because health and general wellness aren’t all or none phenomena; They’re always on a sliding scale, just like your weight, temperature, mood, and energy levels. Healthcare should facilitate this process as well.
By making healthy choices, we can tip the scales in our favor through proper hydration, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and high-quality social connections.
If this is genuinely possible, as science has recently shown, then we all possess the ability to reprogram our brains and bodies to optimize our genetic blueprint to live a long and healthy life.
But how do we do this?
At Nobody Studios, we believe it’s time to give the power back to the people. Your health should be in your hands. And we’re focused on doing just that.
We’re aligning our efforts on creating healthcare companies that meet people right where they’re at: On their devices.
Your health should always be in your hands, and when paired together with the guidance and supervision of highly trained medical providers, technology will allow you to possess the power to make educated decisions about your health and general wellness without having to wait in a doctors office for approval.
Through the marriage of objective wearable technology and automated computerized feedback mechanisms, we hope to change the world of healthcare by helping individuals overcome mental health and addiction issues, optimize sleep and utilize dream-states, enhance longevity and quality of life, and advance the evolution of modern medicine as we know it.
Health Tips From Head to Hand
By creating individualized treatment plans and educational frameworks to help patients make clinical decisions with the help of medical professionals and computerized algorithms, we hope to offset the burden of our current healthcare system to facilitate greater patient outcomes and decreased chronic disease states.
This is exactly what we’re attempting to do at Nobody Studios.
For addicts and drug abusers, the only true rock bottom in life is death. And unfortunately, suicides and drug overdoses are on the rise across the world.
Utilizing software and wearable technology, we hope to predict addictive habits and repetitive behaviors, which in turn, will be used to modify actions to promote new outcomes and changes in these behaviors.
If there was a way to prevent individuals from going to rehab that would allow them to take control of their lives and move away from hitting their rock bottom, what would that look like?
PreHab is a concept currently in the ideation stages at the studio that is focused on solving this exact problem. We believe that individuals possess the power to change; They just need the proper guidance, education, and path to make it happen.
We believe that we are on the cusp of a new wave of modern-age breakthroughs and technological advances, which will evolve at a far greater pace than we have ever seen before. The time is now to act on ideas and turn them into reality because if we decide to wait, we will miss our opportunity to change the world.
Our goal is to build 100 compelling companies in the next five years.
Will you join us? We hope so!

This is a very interesting article on a super hot topic that no one seems to want to address. The largess of living after WWII led to the belief that we could live our young selves without a thought of the consequences later in life. Now, as America ages, and the birth rate in a steep decline since 2007, the model of “the young pay to care for the old” is no longer sustainable. We must rethink healthcare and we MUST ensure every person is active in their own care. I, for one, have always wanted to have a say in my health and have made some good decisions (and some terrible ones related to alcohol, sleep, stress and many others) with the thought of how it will affect me today and in the future. I am looking forward to this effort and how to let every human get advice, see the impact and feel the freedom of choosing health.

Bill, it’s comments like this that reinforce the reasons why we do what we do. We believe that patients are fed up with the system, and the only solution is to take their health into their own hands by owning their health. You’re 100% correct on the argument about the broke model of the “young paying for the old” because at some point, very soon, this model is destined to shatter. Health is a daily decision, and the best part about that is that it means we all have a say in it. Education is key to change and we plan to play a significant part in that equation. Discussions like this are exactly what we hope to have because your voice helps us continue to innovate and challenge the status quo… This is why we’re crowd-infused! Thanks for the share!
