My Fellow (and Future) Nobodies and Health Warriors,
The skies are darkening earlier as we delve into the heart of autumn, reminding us of the serene blanket that night casts over our bustling lives. As time changes take effect worldwide, we are reminded of just how impactful seasonal changes are on our daily lives. For those of you who have been following our journey, you know that we’ve been hard at work building and scaling our Newcos, all while trying to balance our life outside of the studio. We’ve seen firsthand how taking short periods to rest and recover has allowed us to stay hard at work!
At Nobody Studios, this month’s narrative is woven around the theme that echoes through the stillness of the night: Sleep. As we venture into building companies in the Wealth and wellness space, we’ve selectively set our sights by venturing into the realm of slumber to unravel its profound impact on our health and daily lives. And since we sleep nearly a third of our life away, we must ask: “What can we actually do to improve our sleep?”
The endeavor of curating a sleep-focused narrative isn’t merely a scientific or theoretical journey but a deep dive into the core of a restorative health and wellness paradigm. Sleep is multifaceted. Sadly, with the frenetic pace of modern life, the essence of quality sleep has been swept under the rug. Yet, it’s an essential cornerstone of holistic health.
This month, we’re spotlighting how essential and transformative a good night’s sleep truly is. And, more importantly, what Nobody Studios is doing to help people improve their sleep at night!
The Mystique of Sleep
Sleep isn’t merely a passive state. It’s a highly dynamic physiological dance where the body and mind engage in a constantly fluctuating process of restoration, recovery, and rejuvenation. The science of sleep is a vast expanse that encompasses the orchestration of hormones, the rhythm of brain waves, and the ballet of neurotransmitters, all coming together in a grand symphony to replenish our physical and cognitive domains.
We know that sleep impacts us in many ways, from optimizing our mental and emotional health to improving our stamina in the gym and even playing a pivotal role in enhancing our immune system. We also know that getting proper sleep can help us improve our output at work by enhancing our ability to focus and boost our memory. What’s even more exciting about the space is that we’re also finding out that sleep has far-reaching effects, like helping us control our weight and even stave off early signs of aging.
But while everyone knows that sleep is good for you, why do so many people struggle with it?
Introducing Sleep Glide – Your Personal Guide For A Full Night of Sleep
Sadly, not all sleep is created equally. We know that 8 hours of sleep after a night of drinking alcohol will be very different from 8 hours of rest without it. Yet, we’ve all been told to get adequate rest as if that’s enough to cover our bases of health.
While this isn’t necessarily wrong, we know more now than we did years ago. And we think we can change the way people get to sleep at night.
As you saw in our previous month’s newsletter, we are actively building a Newco in the wearable health tech space called Sleep Glide.
Sleep Glide is the first proprietary predictive software capable of guiding the user to accurately time sleep onset for optimal sleep quality. It’s based on the research of Dr. Gina Poe, Ph.D., a sleep neuroscientist at UCLA who has spent the last 20+ years doing research in the sleep and dreams space (Check out her recent interview on the popular Andrew Huberman Podcast).
Combined together with her brilliance and our innovative Frugressive process of company creation at Nobody Studios, our predictive algorithm can use real-time feedback metrics to give users individualized insights into their health.
And that’s just the start of it…
Over time, we aim to help people understand their sleep patterns and offer individualized suggestions for therapies, nutrition, tactics, and habit changes to optimize their sleep quality and quantity. Since one in three people suffer from insomnia, with global rates ranging from 10-50% of the population, insomnia and other sleep-related disorders have a massive impact on our quality of life.
Where We Are vs. Where We’re Going
We’ve poured countless hours into this project, and we’re starting to see our hard work pay off as we make our way through new phases of our product roadmap.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve held meetings with major wearable device companies, who have shared valuable insights into what they see as the future in the sleep technology space… And we’re looking forward to future discussions with them as we start the next phase of our journey. We’re optimistic about collaborations and strategic partnerships, which is why we’ve decided to double down on our efforts and start collecting even more data for our software development.
As a result of our pitches and discussions, we’re moving forward with higher volumes of data collection. We will be starting an official pilot study under the supervision of Dr. Gina Poe at UCLA to validate our work and hopefully publish our research findings when they’re completed.
If you are interested in being part of our research and data collection efforts, we would love to hear from you. We’re also keen to connect with key decision-makers at Whoop and Garmin if you have connections there as well.
